I’ve broken many a shovel on these beauties. I even came face to face with a rattlesnake in a Crinum patch…..I decided to leave that particular bulb alone…….and back up real slow.
Crinum Lilies are the king of all bulbs, some bulbs as big as a newborn baby, but way heavier!! Most old Southern homesteads have Crinums somewhere on their property. Crinums are the epitome of southern charm.
Crinums are known as a ‘walking bulb’, which refers to bulbs that the large flowers fall to the ground and produce new mimi bulbs. Bulbs also will mulitply, and are quite hard to dig up and relocate…..so give these territorial beauties plenty of elbow room to stretch out.
Crinums are drought hardy and require little to no care. They enjoy afternoon shade,, but will survive in almost anything you give them. They do enjoy a nice drink in the summer, and will reward you with a lovely flower when little is blooming.
Mail orders are small bulbs only.
Display Gardens at the Agape Haus Music Studio sell large bulbs, by appointment only. See contact information for more details.
