The current state of life is enough to exhaust anyone. We hear an overwhelming amount of negativity, with very little hope. People are tired. I imagine it is like a single flower trying to bloom amongst the weeds. Amongst the stickers and thorns…
Weed infestations come after a season of neglect, drought or adventuring out into unknown garden territories. A well-mained garden rarely has an overwhelming weed situation. Take my gardens, for example. I am over-run with weeds due to the drought that my little studio farm experienced before we bought it. All that grew on two lots were thorns and stickers. The other part of the farm has veggies….which were new gardens this year. I adventured into land areas that had not been cleared of the weed cycle. And last (my least favorite)….the areas of my gardens that had neglect while my attention was elsewhere. Yep. Weeds.
Weeds rob joy in the garden.
Weeds steal nutrients from plants.
Weeds take purpose, time and effort to erradicate.
Weeds can control your thoughts *unless* you become much like the flower that blooms amongst the weeds.
We can choose to see the weed, or we can choose to see the flower. We can wake up every day, moaning and groaning over what is happening around us, or we can choose to bloom. We can spread ugliness, bitterness and negativity….or we can shine.
It is a very tough time out there. So many weeds in life. So many reasons to give up. So many reasons to allow the weeds to take over. But I’m here to tell you that you are strong, like the flower blooming amidst the chaos. You can do it. You can eliminate those weeds in your life and take back control of your garden.
Wake every morning and give thanks for the beauty that God has created. If you are struggling to find beauty or something to be grateful for, grab your Bible and read Habakkuk 3:18-19
“Yet, I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills.”
That’s a promise. God will take you from your weed-infested surroundings and place you up on a high hill, to shine like a flower. Spend some quiet time away from the chaos of this world and trust in the Lord. He’s got this.
As for me, I am still wrangling those weeds too. But I try to go out, every single day, and find the flowers that are blooming….because they are there. New every morning.
“The steadfast love of the lord never ceases, and His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is Thy Faithfulness”.
Happy Gardening, my friends.
