The Harvest

“It’s time to sow the fields and harvest.”

“Harvest?” I hadn’t planted anything in the land yet……but the Lord wasn’t speaking of gardens.

“If you extend your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall be as the noonday. The Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.” Isaiah 58:10-11

Then I looked up and I saw her. She was alone. Walking at night. Hungry with tattered shoes.

“Here is your garden helper. It’s time to sow seeds of love.  Give hope to the hopeless. It’s time for the harvest.”

Nothing about the harvest made any sense to me. How would I, a violinist and bulb hunter, afford to take on labor costs of hiring workers….let alone children who didn’t garden!

But God is the God of impossibilities. The Lord of zany ideas. The Miracle Worker. The Hope Provider. The Creator of all. So i just keep digging, and I let the Lord do the rest.

The Lord brings me children to work my gardens. Children with who need a job. Children with stories of stress, abuse, neglect, depression, anxiety, autism and poverty to work the gardens. The gardens have been become a place of restoration. A place of His harvest.

The Lord is at work.  As my fields are being planted, souls are changed. His gardens have become a place of harvest, and Hope is found.
